Description
Caliterra Reserva is a fruity Chardonnay packed with tropical pineapple and refreshing grapefruit flavours. It gets it's name from the Spanish - 'calidad' meaning quality and 'tierra' - land - in other words, 'from the best land, the best wine'. This is reflected in the character of this fresh and distinctive wine.
The Reserva range is a huge step up in quality, from the entry-level wines.

Caliterra works in harmony with the environment and the residents of the Colchagua Valley, placing emphasis on their Chilean roots and the purity of nature in every bunch of grapes picked.
By working under a sustainable philosophy they aim to demonstrate care for the environment and the commitment they have with the community. Since our beginning, Caliterra has made high quality wines, working in harmony with the environment in accordance with the Good Agricultural Practices and Clean Production protocols. The Caliterra Estate, of approximately 1,085 hectares, has 75% virgin lands and includes 55 hectares in transition to organic agriculture.
The sustainable viticultural techniques used in the Caliterra vineyards, include integrated plant management, green-label organic plant health programs, product rotation, development of habitat breakers, optimization of water resources, efficient energy use, reincorporation of organic matter, precision agriculture and industrial waste treatment.
Caliterra also seeks to protect its natural resources and the environment by avoiding erosion, using wild horses to prevent fires, reforesting and the like. The human dimension of the sustainable concept, includes community actions such as study, training and risk prevention programs for workers and support for community schools and families.
Sergio Cuadra, Caliterra’s winemaker comments: “it’s not about making only high quality wine anymore. It’s about making it with a careful awareness to help assure the natural resources for our grandsons and beyond”.

> Meet The Winemaker - Sergio Cuadra
Sergio Cuadra was born in Santiago Chile in 1970. He holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering and Enology from the University of Talca and has more than 15 years of experience in crafting fine wines from the most prestigious winegrowing regions in Chile as well as abroad. Sergio discovered his passion for wine as he worked first as a waiter and later as an apprentice sommelier in major restaurants in the Washington, D.C. area. In Sergio’s words, “Recommending wines to go with a dish was not only a new challenging experience, but great fun as well”.
Commencing his career, Sergio worked with French winemaker Jacques Lurton gaining vast experience in red wine vinification. In 1996, the need to combine his work as winemaker with a good knowledge of vineyard management led him to Fetzer Vineyard in California.
In his desire to gain more technical knowledge, Sergio then traveled to the wine regions of France and Germany before returning to Chile. Sergio worked nine years as Chief Winemaker at Viña Concha y Toro’s Chimbarongo facility, responsible from vineyard management to finished products and directly involved in making Concha y Toro’s premium wines. The quality of his work led him to participate in tasting panels with the winemaking team responsible for the Marqués de Casa Concha wine.
