Description
Alpha Zeta was started in 1999 when leading New Zealand
winemaker - Matt Thomson, flew north to produce a range of modern, fruit driven wines from the hills outside Verona.
The aim was to work with growers (rather than buy bulk wine, which is standard for most wines from Verona at this price) to obtain ripe grapes and then, using Matt's expertise, to preserve these flavours in the finished wines.
The vineyards are situated in the rolling hills outside Verona. Matt selected those in excellent sites, where the growers had significantly reduced the crop, to enhance quality.
V Valpolicella has lovely depth, with the scent of black cherries. The wine is soft and ripe, with cherry pie and chocolate flavours. Excellent value.
