We don’t pretend to be brilliant at everything, so we don’t offer glass hire. The reason is that if the event is taking place at a residential or business address, the chances are that you’ll require a marquee, ice and buckets, table cloths and even tables... need we go on, so the appropriate choice for equipment and accessories would be a hire company in your area.
Samples Policy
If you order samples and decide to place an order for your
event with Formula Wine, the charges for samples will be
deducted from the total event spend.
To qualify, the
minimum spend for the event is £500.
When
placing an order for samples, if we have not previously
discussed requirements with you, please advise us in the
personal message box at checkout.
The total value of
samples will be refunded up to a maximum of £50.
Help In The Right Direction
A standard size 75cl bottle of Champagne or sparkling wine will provide 6 glasses/flutes. For a reception or toast, allow around 2-3 glasses per person. Example: 100 guests x 2 glasses each = 200 glasses, therefore 34 bottles (200 / 6 = 34)
Grande Marques (big name Champagne) is impressive and the traditional choice for the reception and toasts but a good sparkling wine should be considered, as New World fizz has a fruity style that’s a refreshing alternative compared with the power of Champagne.
For the reception also consider Bucks Fizz, Pimms with lemonade or Kir Royale (black current flavour créme de cassis and Champagne or sparkling wine).
If a toast follows dessert, choosing an off-dry fizz can be a good idea and will also complement wedding cake! Canadian Sparkling Wine Ice Cuvee or fizz like Prosecco, Australian or South African will be great!
Preferences for red and white wines are usually 50-50 apart from during the summer when white wine or rosé may be popular. The split will also depend on the food being served, however don’t worry our team can offer you best advice. Ultimately, the wine should be tailored to suit the mood of the event and your personality.
Allow at least half a bottle of wine per person and add a few extra bottles for safety. A standard 75cl bottle of wine will provide 5 servings in standard size wine glasses.
Example: 100 guests X 0.5 = 50 glasses. A case of 12 bottles = 12 x 5 = 60 glasses. Ideal for allowing half a bottle per person, plus the safety margin.
Remember mixers, soft drinks and water. For all day events allow at least half a litre of water per person.
Most venues will allow you to supply your own drinks and simply charge a handling fee for services, such as chilling and serving your guests. The handling charge may initially appear expensive, however BYO usually works out cost effective and without reservation, much better value considering the superiority of the wine.
